School Story Focus 2025-2026
Kingswood's School Story Focus continues in two areas: Literacy; and the Personal and Social Core Competency of Personal Awareness and Responsibility.
In the area of Literacy, we have identified the skill of 'comprehending what one reads' as our main focus this school year. Together in the 2025/2026 school year, the Kingswood staff will collaborate together to share and learn strategies towards teaching comprehension skills to students across all grade levels. Through scanning our students in previous school years and by using the RFRA (Richmond Formative Reading Assessment) with students in all grades this school year, we have identified 'Comprehension' as a key reading skill all Kingswood students can improve.
Additionally, we will continue our focus on 'Personal Awareness and Responsibility'. Students and staff at Kingswood demonstrate empathy and care for each other every school day, but we believe we can continue to learn new ways to support and relate to each other. Through Family Teams activities, Recognition and Sharing Assemblies and teachable moments, we will continue to strive towards building a culture of care and respect in the Kingswood community this year.
