What Values Are Lived at Kingswood?

We scanned our students near the end of the school year in 2022, as we looked at the core values that define what make Kingswood such a special place to be.  After scanning all of our intermediate students online and our primary students in circle/group discussions, the values that stood out most were ones around being kind, caring, and how we treat others.  Others that stood out were those focused upon perseverance, the environment, being respectful and responsible, and also having fun and having happy experiences and opportunities as part of our students' lives at school.  From this scanning and their input, we then moved forward to relook at what makes Kingswood such a special community, and looking for ways to continue to connect and rebuild a sense of belonging, especially coming out of covid restrictions.  Our focus continued to be on SEL, but rather than focusing upon a set of strategies, we looked at how a sense of belonging and shared, explicit values could continue to strengthen the sense of belonging and community for everyone, including our staff.  A sense of belonging correlates with Social and Emotional Learning.
