In the fall of 2022, we surveyed our Kingswood students and asked them if they could identify what it means when we say, "We are all Kingswood E.A.G.L.E.S.?". These values were identified/developed as core values that represent our school community which were developed over time, with input from all students from Kindergarten through Grade Seven, along with our staff.  Our staff also used some of their time on some professional development days looking at what values were reflective of, and important to, our school community.  

Ultimately, since our Eagles logo is so integral to our school community, the "We are all Kingswood E.A.G.L.E.S." phrase was developed through this process.

In the fall of 2022, when we surveyed our students, 38 percent of them could identify more than 2 (or more) of the 6 values of our school community.  Over the year, we worked to make the language much more commonly used, including being shared at our monthly assemblies, and recognizing students during morning "shout outs" who were found to be demonstrating the values throughout the school days.

At the end of the year, when our grade 7 students were re-surveyed, 98 percent of our students were able to identify what the 6 values are in terms of what it means to be a Kingswood E.A.G.L.E.!

Next steps for us as a school community is to continue working on using school-wide language consistently so that all students and staff have an awareness of what it means to be a Kingswood E.A.G.L.E. --by having shared language and known expectations, this contributes to a feeling of belonging and safety--so essential for building community and for social and emotional well-being.

We will also work with students to create a visual school-wide visual representation of our core values, so that it is posted throughout the school and is a visual reinforcement of what our school community's values are.

We will continue with our daily "shout outs" to students when we notice them demonstrating a specific value; over the morning announcements each day, we recognize students who demonstrate these positive behaviours.
