On Monday April 4, 2016 the Board of Education will receive a staff report that will list the elementary schools that meet the district's school closure policy (policy 704R) requirements. The Board will be asked to confirm the list of schools, and to direct staff to set up consultation committees with each of the schools that are listed. A school being on the list does not mean that a school will definitely close - it means that the school meets at least one of the policy criteria and could be considered for closure.
There will be opportunities for consultation with the school community at each of the listed schools. ~These meetings will include the consultation committee, which will have two parent representatives as well as the school principal, and public input meetings set for May 17th, 18th and 19th, as well as online opportunities through the district's consultation site Our Schools Our Students Our Future.
A copy of the staff report will be available online at the school district website as well as the Our Schools Our Students Our Future site on Friday April 1, 2016 after 6:00 pm. If you wish to attend the Board meeting, it will be held at the school district offices at 7811 Granville Avenue at 7:00pm on April 4, 2016.
